About Dempsey Broughton:
Kevin Dempsey and Joe Broughton:
Have been playing together since 2000. Following the success of their first two albums "Every Other World" and "Freehand" they are currently working on their third album due to be released summer 2009. Kevin and Joe have toured together extensively in Italy, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria and USA as well as in the UK.
Kevin Dempsey:
Kevin is a guitarist, singer and producer second to none. He has extensive experience in the music business, having worked with everyone from Percy Sledge to Dando Shaft and The Marvelettes to Alice
Coltrane. Not forgetting the incredible “Whippersnapper” whose line-up also included Dave
Swarbrick, Chris Leslie and Martin Jenkins. With this band Kevin toured the world extensively and recorded five albums. In 1987 his highly acclaimed solo album “The Cry of love” was also released, which featured Danny Thompson, Polly Bolton, Chris Leslie and Paul
Dunmall. The nineties saw Kevin produce albums for several leading artists, write film scores and perform with old friends Chris Leslie and Dave
Swarbrick. After Touring with Mary Black in 2004 Kevin also joined the band Uiscedwr who he played with until late 2007.

Joe Broughton:
Was born in 1976. Although he is a classically trained violin player, his style owes much more to Folk, Jazz and Blues. Folk On Tap described his playing as “Spine-tingling”. Throughout his childhood up to the present day Joe has been performing with his brother Ben and he was a member of the legendary Albion Band 1997 - 2003. Ashley Hutchings describes him as “a massive individual talent”. Between 1987 and 1992 Joe worked in circuses, at which time the BBC made a short film about his diverse talents. In ’94 – ’97 Joe studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he now teaches folk music and composition. Much in demand as a teacher Joe now has his own fiddle school in Birmingham and teaches folk music at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. As a performer Joe has gained a reputation for performing with “mind blowing energy” and “…in between song banter that would put most comedians to shame” – The Ledge.
