Helping To Keep Local Music Live !

You may already know that Tony Wall is a...
Talented performer with an extensive and varied repertoire, who is also an avid supporter of open-mics around the area...

But what you may not know... is that Tony is also a big Jim Reeves fan.

Now it's really interesting what impact our formative years can have, and how this can greatly influence the path we take later-on in life as adults.

And this seems to be so true with many artists, and Tony is a very good example of this...

Here's what Tony has to say...
'My early memory is of dad coming home one day in early 1960 with the (Jim Reeves) single; He’ll Have To Go. I loved the voice and how clear it sounded.'

'Later I remember; You’re the only good thing, I Love You Because, Welcome to my World, and, I Won’t Forget You.'

'In 1966, when Distant Drums was high in the charts, I was in Grange Over Sands on holiday with a school trip, when one evening after dinner, four teachers started playing guitars, finger picking style, the song; This World Is Not My Home.'

'And I decided there and then that on my return I would pester mom and dad to buy me a guitar to learn to play.'

'I will always be grateful for that holiday and to my late parents for the opportunity that was to influence my whole life.'

What a great inspirational story...
Now most of us leave our hero worshiping to buying records and maybe collecting memorabilia...

But thankfully for us, Tony didn't let it stop there, because he has been involved in the promotion of Gentleman Jim's music for many years now.

And with the help of Joyce Jackson (Jim’s Secretary) and Mary Reeves, Tony spent two weeks in Nashville... and video taped hours of interviews... with many country music personalities associated with Jim Reeves, including, the great guitar legend Chet Atkins who produced most of Jim’s recordings.

Tony even returned later with a TVS film crew to make what appears to have been the only television biography about Jim ever made... The program was shown twice on channel 4 in the UK, and sold all over the world. It is available on DVD and is called “Gentleman Jim” story of a legend.

Tony's ultimate tribute to Jim Reeves...
But Tony's devotion to the memory and music of Jim Reeves, didn't even stop there, because apart from his usual live performances, Tony also tours the pubs & clubs with a Jim Reeves Tribute Show.

And still there's more...
Because of constant requests from his fans, Tony has captured his musical journey on 2 CD's, so you can re-live the whole 'Tony Wall Live Experience' over and over again.

The first CD is a collection of 'Tony's favourite songs' that he's been performing in his live shows over the years.

And the second is 'Tony Wall Sings Jim Reeves' ~ A forty year celebration of Jim Reeves Number-One-Hits, that Tony performs live in his Jim Reeves Tribute Show

Saturday 11th August:

Victoria Working Men's Club
I had a great evening in this nice club; The people were really friendly, the beer was good and at low prices, and the performances from Tony Wall and Larry Shannon were excellent, and made the evening take off with a bang.
